In March 2013 our Academy was awarded the "Green Flag" status.
The award was granted by the Eco-Schools programme in recognition of the workpupils and staff have done to make the Academy more environmentally friendly.  The academy's Eco-club, run by Miss Richardson, have organised a number of projects relating to biodiversity and saving energy. The club have recruited "Energy Police" so that pupils can keep an eye on any waste and ensure that as much as possible is being recycled.  the police also
monitor electrical wastage by ensuring that unused computers and lights are switched off. In addition the Eco-club have arranged with Yorkshire Water to fit water saving devices into all toilets which helps to save hundreds of litres of water every day.

We are also very proud of our allotment area which has been created so that pupils can grow their own fruit and vegetables and recycle fruit waste in the composters.

Everyone within the Academy is very proud of the achievements of the Eco-club and share their delight at the Green Flag award.
