Kangaroos 2015 - 2016

Welcome to Kangaroos
A very warm welcome to the Kangaroo's home page. The Kangaroo's class teacher is Mrs Leighton and our teaching assistants are Mrs Skelton and Mrs Green. We will be on the playground every morning from 8.40am if you have any questions or messages for us.

Our P.E. times this term are Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. However, we often have P.E. at other times. For example,  when we have visitors like Freddy Fit, so it is a really good idea to have a P.E kit in school at all times.

We will hear some children read every day so please make sure that your child's book bag and home reading book are in school every day. Please sign and date if you have heard your child read at home to enable us to change their book when they need to. We will check home reading records and change books on a weekly basis.

Our theme for this half term is Castles. We are very excited about our visit to Scarborough Castle on Tuesday 7th June. We will be learning about what life was like living inside a castle, where they were and why, which materials were used in castles and exploring tapestry. For more information our curriculum newsletter is  available by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.   Please keep an eye out for our class twitter feed and don't forget we will be son the home page of the school website and don't forget we will be sharing all of our Wow! moments with you via Marvelous Me. Please send us a high five if you like what we are doing.

December 2015

It's been a busy month in the Kangaroos. We have had lots of fun with our learning. Here are some of the things we have learnt and enjoyed.
We designed and made our own healthy sandwiches.

George said that it was the best sandwich he had ever tasted! Even better than school dinners and they're pretty good too.

Ella and Amelia really enjoyed their sandwiches too.

Mrs Leighton's Mum and Dad came in to talk to us about what life was like for them as children in the 1950's. We learnt that school was very different then and the boys always wore shorts even in the winter.

We held a family learning event and our parents came in to help us make Christmas decorations. We made a bit of a mess that afternoon.

We all joined in with making a Christmas Video in 1 take. Here we are waiting with our instruments for the camera crew to arrive. We looked fantastic. Watch out for the video on the home page.

Children in Need 2015.
We are Champions of Change.

The School Council asked as what we would like to change for the day to raise money for Children in Need. We all paid to dress up as the teachers for the day and asked the teachers to dress up as school children.

We all looked amazing. Mrs Leighton said she had never looked better.

Mr Kernan looked really smart too.

Check out the rest of us...
