Rock Challenge

Key Stage 2 children have been attending Rock Challenge on a Friday evening since September.

Rock challenge is a competition organised by Humberside Police and the 'Be your Best' foundation. It aims to keep children safe from drugs and alcohol whilst having fun and doing something they enjoy. It is known as a 'drug free high'. Children from all around the UK take part in the competition that includes creating a performance around a topic of their choice and designing and making staging and costumes.

The children attended a competition at Hull Ice Arena on Tuesday 14th April to show their 8 minute dance. They got dressed up, hair and make-up included and gave a very good performance based on the topic of slavery.

We were very pleased with the results:
  • Award for stage crew
  • Award for video performance
  • Award for stage design and function
The children worked very hard during rehearsals and organised some fundraising events.
They are now preparing for next year and are already thinking about the fundraising they can organise.

The children attended the day in their pyjamas and were the talk of the day. They looked great!
During the day the children attended many workshops based around 'staying safe' and 'being healthy'. They learnt lots of new skills and gained knowledge about topics such as drugs, alcohol, internet safety, healthy eating and the NHS

The children also created their own 'Rock Challenge' t-shirt to be warn when the competition results were announced. There were some great ideas and the children supported all of the other schools as well as cheering for our own.
